Once we decided 2018 was the year of the bus, we started researching what type of bus we wanted, aligned on a general budget, discovered the term “skoolie,” secured season tickets for the first time and started scouring sale sites. Luckily, we found THE BUS on Facebook Marketplace after about a month. A family in Kensett, Iowa, had used the bus for several years for camping excursions. They had already removed the standard-issue seats and flooring, opting instead for an open “floor plan” with warm carpet throughout! We considered this a big win as we wouldn’t have to do any demo and rebuild this season.

After 11 days of consideration, we started a late-night flurry of message exchanges and phone calls, a visit to the bank for some cold hard cash and two-hour drive later and the bus was ours! (We paid $5,000 for our dream bus and couldn’t be happier! Thanks, Bill.) Dave drove it to the farm where he gave a tour to the rest of the fam via FaceTime.
The quote of the day: “Dreams really do come true!”
Best of all, the vehicle was certified NOT a lemon by our in-house mechanic—also known as Natalie’s dad or Ranger Boppa.
